I reached out to Bashar and he came out for a consultation. Although I was still working with my original guy, Bashar offered to help him with anything he didn't understand. We got through that problem but when it became evident that my guy couldn't finish the job and meet all the code requirements for the inspections, I called Bashar again. This time it was to hire him to finish the job. He came out with Hoss, his partner, and they spent hours inspecting the work that had been done, contacting my architect and structural engineer on record and making note of changes that were needed to bring the project up to code. I would think this is a crew's worst nightmare, to have to come in and spend time undoing someone's substandard work before you can begin your own work, but Bashar and Hoss did it with professionalism and brought in a team of experts to complete the job. Everyone was courteous, knowledgeable and above all, treated my house with the same care to detail as if they were working on their own home.  My only regret is that I didn't start the job with Bashar and Hoss. I would have saved myself money and a lot of unnecessary headaches. Now that this major renovation is done and I am thrilled with the outcome and the professionalism that Hoss and Bashar demonstrated, I will be using them for the renovation of the other master suite.

They gave us a design that allows for privacy but also could look very open, which we didn't know we could have both. Everything about the process was perfect and professional. We couldn't believe how fast the project was started and it finished even a couple weeks early. We had absolutely no hidden cost at all. Bashar was always just a phone call or text away. We honestly give him 100% A+ on professionalism. We couldn't be more grateful. We have a very modest home and a smaller budget than most but he did not skimp on luxury at all. Bashar and his team quickly and fairly adapted to the changes. The results are amazing. We really wanted the addition to look like it was part of the original structure and it does. Even the inspectors were impressed with the seamlessness of the work. The tile work they did is amazing and they took great pains to make sure the new flooring matched as closely as possible the preexisting flooring. They stuck to their timelines and stand by their work. They even came back to fix a few minor tweaks after project completion which is rare and very appreciated.

  Bashar, his architect Sura, and his crew chief Hosny were great in getting me through a project that ought not have been as complex and time-consuming as it was.  The... read more project, putting up a wall, could have been, and was in fact, done in 3 days.  The complexities and amazing delays were due to the permits office of the city of Laguna Woods.  It demanded architectural and engineering plans, it sent the plans which Bashar and Sura created out for review, the review took 3 weeks!  I have friends from Romania, who said, when I described this process to them, that it's like how things got done in the old Communist days of Ceaucescu; but this is the USA, in 2019!  The city government of Laguna Woods is a communist dictatorship. They rule over a helpless people, the retirees of Laguna Woods Village, and they take pleasure in making the lives of the retirees as miserable and frustrating as possible. It took months, after Ceaucescu was executed by his people after the 1989 revolution, for many Romanians to believe that he was really dead; this is what I felt like after the permits were finally issued by the city of Laguna Woods: I couldn't believe it actually happened.

Bashar and Sura worked patiently throughout all this bureaucratic nightmare to get the permits, and then Hosny contracted a crew which worked quickly, efficiently, and the result was great. The wall had to be put up in order for an apt to go on sale, and one week after the work was done we got a cash offer at asking price.  Given all the work that had to be done, and the excellent result so far, Bashar charged a very fair price. I see that a review complained of the price, but, as they say in Brooklyn, "you gets what you pays for," and what I got was well worth paying for.

  I needed to find a reputable structural engineer quickly to investigate a wall in a home I just purchased to determine that a kitchen wall was non bearing.  I needed... read more the report quickly to meet a deadline for an Architectural Control Committee (ACC) meeting at Huntington Landmark Senior Adult Community, to accompany a request to the HOA for demolishing a wall in the kitchen area as part of a kitchen remodel. I read good Yelp reviews for SCE so I called the phone number on a Saturday morning expecting to leave a voice mail.  Bashar actually answered the phone (a mobile number... yeah), and after explaining my need and emailing him some floorplans and photos, he agreed to do the job for a set fee (very reasonable) on Monday ... my preferred time.  Bashar and I stayed in touch on Sunday and Monday morning, and he arrived on time to crawl into the attic to make his assessment.  He emerged from the attic with photos, a video and the good news that the wall was indeed non bearing. He prepared his report with wet stamp, including some hand drawings so I understood the structure, and I gave him a check as agreed.  He was very professional and thorough, and offered further assistance if the ACC had any questions.  I will not hesitate to use SCE and Bashar in the future for any Structural Engineering or Investigation needs.
